We are proud to announce the completion of a project in which 682 solar panels were installed at our new production facilities in the Algarve region, with a total investment of 360 thousand Euros.

The construction of a sustainable and energy-efficient manufacturing unit was one of our main prerequisites for the new factory. The Algarve is one of the sunniest locations in Europe, allowing us to maximize on-site solar energy production. The 682 solar panels generate around 300 kW of energy, meaning that 80% of the facility’s energy needs will be met by solar power. Our on-site solar energy production has seen an impressive 600% increase compared to our previous factory.

This investment was made under the Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), which is funded by the European Union, offering the possibility of receiving a non-refundable grant covering 55% of the invested amount. The Industry Decarbonization Component C11 is a key part of the PRR, as it will help Portugal achieve its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050. The aim is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the industrial sector.

The investment made by the entity G F E – GLOBAL FIRE EQUIPMENT – MONTAGEM DE EQUIPAMENTO ELECTRONICO, S.A. under this application is aimed at the installation of electricity generation systems using renewable energy sources for self-consumption, with a total investment of EUR 356,734.94.

The project “Consolidation of GLOBAL FIRE EQUIPMENT’s (GFE) Sustainable Energy Policy” was carried out within the framework of the Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and is funded by the European Commission’s Recovery and Resilience Facility, under notice no. 03/C11-i01/2022 – Support for Industry Decarbonization.
